Insurance

Healthcare
Healthcare (including vision and dental) monthly premium paid in full by the Animal Legal Defense Fund on organizational selected plans. HSA and Flexible Spending Accounts available.

Option to increase coverage, with employee paying difference of monthly fee.
Option to decrease coverage with employee applying overage to dependents.

Life Insurance Policy

Policy value of 1.5 times annual salary, with $150,000 maximum. Beneficiary designated by employee.

PTO and Leave Policies

Paid Time Off (PTO)
1-5 years on staff, 192 hours/year accrued.
6+ years on staff, 240 hours/year accrued.

Paid Holidays
Federal holidays and Canadian holidays off (respectively)—total of 11 paid holidays

Emergency Paid Sick Leave
2 weeks paid leave, as applicable to broad criteria related to public health crises.

Paid Family Leave
Up to 8 weeks paid leave, depending on circumstances (including ill family member, bonding with new child) and continuous health care insurance.

Organization supplements employee’s state insurance program benefits to bring them to full compensation. If no state insurance, organization supplements 40 percent of employee salary.

Additional Family Leave
Up to 12 weeks during 12-month period (unpaid, but job protected.) Health insurance continued for 12 weeks, if employee was eligible for an enrolled in health insurance before taking leave.

Paid Pregnancy Disability Leave
Up to 6 weeks paid leave and 4 months of health insurance.

Disability Leave

Paid time to vote during workday, if work schedule conflicts with reaching polling location during operating hours.

Servicemember Leave
26 weeks of unpaid leave, job protected leave

Flex Work Policies

Telecommuting available to exempt staff, contingent on job duties and manager approval. Telecommuters receive a $20/month stipend to offset the cost of internet service and a scheduled, recurring allowance for office equipment.

Specialized equipment for individuals with disabilities and/or specialized ergonomic needs are also provided.

Alternate Work Schedule (4 workdays/10 hours per day) available to exempt staff, contingent on job duties and manager approval.

Companion animals welcome in Cotati, California office (some restrictions may apply).

Retirement Fund

After completion of one year on staff, eligible to contribute to organization’s 401K. The Animal Legal Defense Fund matches up to 5 percent of annual income contributions. Employees are 100 percent vested upon eligibility to contribute.

Sabbatical Policy

All staff are eligible after 5 years of employment.

4 weeks paid leave. Optional to add accrued PTO to extend and/or take an additional 4 weeks unpaid leave.
